MRCP Library

The aim of library is to fulfill the need of relating materials. The books are the foundation stone of library service. The Library has a rich stock of books to meet the intellectual and academic needs of both students and staff. The library subscribes to an adequate number of journals and magazines which brings to them the most up-to-date developments in technology along with B. Pharmacy, Pharm. D, Pharm. D(PB), Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Analysis.

Library Management System

The institution has exclusive library facility for students and teaching with total built-up area of 300 Sq. M.  It is located at the 2nd floor of the College building in a clean and quiet atmosphere in the campus of Malla Reddy College of Pharmacy, Hyderabad. Library is managed by Library Advisory committee consisting of Principal, HODs of all departments, one librarian with MLISc Qualification and One Assistant Librarian. Library is furnished with wooden reading tables having good lighting system, comfortable chairs and fans.  Absolute silence is ensured by library staff, displaying adequate sign boards such as “no mobile usage” and “maintain silence.   It has reading room for staff and PG students with nearly 82 seating capacity.  Digital Library Computers with Internet facility are available along with Printer.

The “LIBRARY MANAGEMENT” gives us the complete information about the library. Library maintains hard copies of different categories of Books, Journals, Newspapers and Magazines.  Books are classified according to subject wise and maintain the records of Book name, Author name, Publisher’s name, Date/ Year of publication and Cost of the book. All the members have to access to the entire library resources without any categorization, the resources include Books, Journals, Weekly, monthly magazines and News Papers. There are 10 computers & 2 vigilant cameras in the library.   

Library Overview

The institute has well equipped and furnished library with 12435 books. In addition to this Library has developed an excellent collection of books, journals and e-journals in B. Pharmacy, Pharm. D, Pharm. D(PB), Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Analysis .

It maintains separate collections of Reference Books, Journals, Library is fully computerized by using library management software and all books are bar-coded. New books purchased to the library are displayed on new arrival tables for the information to the users. Question bank of previous examinations pertaining to all semesters is available in the library. Reference section is available and the books are used by the users. Library subscribes 25 National and 389 E- journals of Pharmacy.

Students and staffs are instructed for discipline management of library facilities. Students are provided with library card for borrowing books. Students are instructed to check the books while borrowing and they will be responsible for any type of damage at the time of return.

Books taken should be returned on or before the due date stamped, if returned late overdue fine will be charged for the delayed period. If the books are lost, then the lender shall replace the books of the same edition or latest edition or pay cost of the book after getting permission from the librarian.

Loss of borrower card should be reported to the librarian. Duplicate card may be issued against formal application and fine. No-dues certificate will be issued to students from the library after returning all the books.

Things To Know

Each book is bar-coded with unique accession number. Students will be issued Library cards for the purpose of utilizing books. The library is partially automated with koha software in the year 2023. (koha is a web based document management system- DMS). It supports its users by managing documents in most popular formats.   

Transactions of the library are made through software and also manually, which include:

  • Updating books and information in accession register
  • Ordering and maintaining books
  • Adding members: staff and students
  • Including journal and periodical details
  • Circulation of books to the staff and students
  • Cataloging service

Members are free to recommend new books of journals for the library and suggest improvement in library services. Suggestions and recommendations, duly signed can be handed over to the Librarian

Library Rules

LIBRARY MEMBER SHIP: The teachers, students of the college can enroll themselves as members by filling application agreeing to abide by the rules. Borrower’s cards will be given to registered members only which are strictly non-transferable and are to be renewed every year.

The objectives are:
Member ship Card/Ticket:
A lost borrowers card/ticket, of found, should be immediately deposited in the library. Failure to do so or its misuse, can lead to disciplinary action
Number of Books and Periodicals: The number books borrower can take and the period for which he/she can retain them is as follows:

LIBRARY TIMINGS: The library Opens from 9.00 A.M to 6.00 P.M in all working days.
(Works beyond normal working hours on demand from students).

LIBRARY USE: The library is primarily intended for the students and staff of the college who can make use of library collections. Facilities and service are in accordance with rules. Others can use the library only with the special permission of the library committee.

ACESS TO LIBRARY DOUCUMENTS: The readers have access to books and periodicals which are on the open shelves. Text books, Reference Books and dissertations can be consulted only in the assigned area.

SERVICES: Member are free to seek the assistance of Library Staff in selecting reading digital materials, checking of references, searching of misplaced reading material etc.

OVER DUE CHARGES: Rs.1per book per day overdue charges are recovered for library material retained longer than the period of loan from all borrowers.

LOSS OF MATERIAL: Following charges are recovered the borrowers for the loss on any library material.
A) Books:
i)Double the replacement/ the current price. The reader, however is at liberty to replace the book within 15days
ii)The cost of the complete set may have to be paid for the loss of a single volume if it is not available separately.

B) Periodicals:
I) Single issue of periodicals Replacement within one month or double the cost.
ii) Bound volume of periodicals Replacement within one month or four times the cost of the volume.

Loss of library tickets /membership card: Keeping of library ticket/membership card in good condition is solely the responsibility of the borrower. A duplicate Ticket /membership card is prepared on payment of Rs100/-per ticket/membership card

THEFT/TERING PAGES OF DOCUMENTS :In case of the theft or tearing pages of the library books/document, the replacement charge must be charged 10 times of the document subject to maximum of Rs3000/-or cost off the book whichever is higher and person involved can be debarred from his /her library facilities depending upon the seriousness of the offence.
